Welfare Officer

 The British International School is seeking to hire an experienced and responsible Welfare Officer for all daily tasks to support both students and school staff whilst on campus in regards to their wellbeing. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid, nursing care and medical services to students and staff and document the visits.
  • Utilize Sphere software to document all incidents with injury to students and staff.
  • Collect and process student’s daily/emergency medications, both prescription and QTC and ensure all relevant paperwork is properly documented in accordance with the Texas State law.
  • Administer medications to students and document following school policy.
  • Assist all teachers by providing first aid supplies around the school campus.
  • Assist with the coordination of Project ADAM Heart Safe School program efforts.
  • Maintain accurate student health files, updating records as needed..
  • Communicate with parents, teachers and school administrators regarding individual students and serve as a liaison between school personnel, families, health care professionals, and the community.
  • Maintain automated external defibrillators on campus (AED’s)
  • Maintain a record of students with allergies, illnesses and ailments, updating when necessary and making this information accessible to staff.
  • Order supplies for medical team when needed
  • Perform immunization audits monthly, contact parents to ensure compliance (written/verbal).
  • Review physical health forms for health screening information and accuracy.
  • Assist with developing and updating policies/procedures/protocols for the clinical practice at school.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Knowledge of school laws and policies 

  • BLS/CPR Certification 

  • AED Certification 

  • Knowledge of state health regulations 

  • Use of Apple computer and software applications
