The British International School Shanghai, Puxi is looking to recruit a Deputy Headteacher (Secondary), to inspire and motivate all to succeed in a premium educational setting. The role:
We seek a well-qualified and inspirational teacher to join our thriving school where your focus will be:
- To coach, mentor and develop Heads of Faculty and departments to be the best that they can be.
- To lead in the production of the whole school timetable, including liaising with SLT colleagues and middle leaders about staffing needs.
- Ensure that data is available and is used for effective tracking and intervention across the secondary school.
- Manage external and internal examinations in the secondary school.
- Create meaningful accountability for outcomes and quality assurance processes in teaching and learning.
- To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive mission and ethos.
- To create learning opportunities that will inspire and engage students, will challenge their thinking and nurture intellectual curiosity.
- To drive excellent teaching and learning by bringing your expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to pupils, parents, and colleagues each and every day.
- To engage and interact with our wider Nord Anglia family through opportunities available across our schools in the region and across the globe, or through our collaborations.
The Successful Candidate will possess:
- Qualifications to degree level or above.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Demonstrable success as a school leader and extensive teaching experience.
- Experience of delivering a UK National Curriculum in the UK or overseas.
- Proven success in teaching IBDP/A-Level, GCSE and Key Stage 3.
- Excellent and appropriate relationships with young people and their parents.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage children and enable them to perform highly.
- Proven track record of ensuring good progress and outcomes for pupils.

About you
Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment as well as meet visa-related requirements for China, including a minimum bachelor’s degree, at least 2 years of working experience as a teacher, as well as non-criminal records valid for the last 10 years.
