About the Department and Role

We are currently in search of an experienced and dynamic PE teacher to join our close-knit and very successful PE department. Core PE is taught from year 1 to year 13. We also offer IBDP Sports, Exercise and Health Science and this year we have introduced IGCSE PE to our curriculum. In summer 2023, 55% of our cohort IBDP students achieved a grade 5 or above. Our school is situated on a compact site, yet we still have access to 3 gyms and a full sized astroturf. Football, volleyball and basketball are all extremely popular sports, which we play competitively at tournaments in Warsaw as well as across Poland and Europe. The PE department is focused on enhancing the assessment at KS3, increasing numbers of students choosing to study the subject at IGCSE and more fully embedding the IB Learner Profile into IBDP teaching. The successful candidate will have the chance to teach classes across the age range. Prior experience of teaching the IBDP programme is highly advantageous for this role.

About You

You create a classroom culture in which your students set ambitious targets for themselves. You seek out and use innovative teaching practices to enhance your students’ experiences and outcomes. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you are keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers and model what it is to be a lifelong learner. You will have a university degree in a relevant subject, a teaching qualification plus relevant teaching experience and knowledge. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Poland.

Job Responsibilities

• Following our curriculum and pedagogical approaches.
• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of our students.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes excellent behaviour, a love for learning and character development.
• Use a variety of teaching methods, resources, and technologies to enhance the learning experience.
• Ensure that a passion for the subject is communicated during your lessons.
• Set targets with students and provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic progress and development.
• Monitor and keep records of student progress.
•  Attend departmental meetings and collaborate with members of the department on areas such as curriculum writing and review; assessment design and moderation; and departmental development plans.
• Comply with departmental procedures, such as assessment procedures and tracking.
• Comply with school wide expectations, such as prompt and accurate registration of students and reporting.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement interdepartmental projects and activities, making use of Global Classroom and Nord Anglia’s associations with Julliard, UNICEF and MIT.
• Attend Academic Review Days and maintain open communication with parents to provide insight into students' progress.
• As required, carry out the role of a Form Tutor to support students in their personal and academic growth.
• Commit to ongoing professional development.
• Contribute to the school's LEAP activities programme and events, promoting a holistic approach to education.
• Fulfil active supervision and lesson cover duties as required.

Competencies 

• Hold an honours degree in a relevant subject area.
• Possess UK QTS or equivalent.
• Have a record of teaching Art in an English-speaking school environment.
•  A strong record of professional development.
