The Learning Support Specialist is a key instructional and inclusion leader responsible for advancing a fully inclusive model of education for middle and high school students with mild to moderate exceptionalities. This role combines direct student support with strategic leadership to strengthen schoolwide practices in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI), and differentiated instruction. The specialist collaborates closely with teachers, counselors, administrators, families, and external providers to design, implement, and monitor individualized supports that promote access, belonging, and student agency. In addition to serving on Student Learning Profile (SLP) teams and coordinating transitions between divisions, the role leads professional learning, builds sustainable systems and protocols, and uses data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a skilled collaborator, reflective practitioner, and systems-level thinker who is deeply committed to equity, inclusion, and empowering both students and educators to thrive in a rigorous, supportive learning environment.

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education, Learning Support, or a related field; valid teaching certificate/license required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience supporting middle and/or high school students with mild to moderate exceptionalities.
  • Experience advancing inclusive practices, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI), and differentiated instruction.
  • Experience providing direct student support and participating in Student Learning Profile (SLP) teams and transition planning.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working closely with teachers, counselors, administrators, families, and external providers.
  • Experience contributing to professional learning and the development of schoolwide systems, protocols, and inclusive practices.
  • Ability to use student data to monitor progress, inform decision-making, and support continuous improvement.
  • Excellent command of the English language; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and student agency in a rigorous, supportive learning environment.
  • Required to submit an up-to-date criminal background check from the country of origin, as well as police background checks from countries of residence over the past ten years.
  • Available to start August 1, 2026.
