Job Responsibilities
Early Childhood and Instructional Support
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lessons and developmentally appropriate activities
- Support children during individual, small-group, and whole-group learning
- Facilitate play-based learning experiences that encourage curiosity, independence, and social development
- Assist with observing and documenting children’s progress and developmental milestones
Toileting, Hygience and Personal Care
- Assist children with toileting, including diapering or bathroom support as needed, in accordance with school policies and safeguarding procedures
- Support handwashing, hygiene routines, and self-care skill development
- Assist with clothing changes, accidents, and comfort needs in a respectful and age-appropriate manner
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of toileting and classroom areas
Classroom and Learning Environment
- Prepare and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment
- Set up learning centers, prepare materials, and display student work
- Assist with snack routines, classroom organization, and daily transitions
- Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is temporarily out of the room
Long Description
- Supervise students during indoor and outdoor play, including playground activities
- Ensure student safety during all classroom routines and transitions
- Support children’s social-emotional development by modeling positive behavior
- Treat all children with dignity, patience, and respect
Long Description
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Training or coursework in early childhood education preferred
- Willingness to complete required early childhood, safeguarding, and health & safety training
- Physical ability to meet the demands of caring for young children, including lifting, bending, and assisting with personal care
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young children
Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with young children (early childhood setting preferred)
- Knowledge of early childhood development, including social, emotional, physical, and cognitive milestones
- Experience supporting toileting, hygiene routines, and transitions for young children
- Familiarity with play-based learning environments and classroom routines
- Experience working with diverse families and cultures preferred
