Lab Technician Job Description
We are looking to recruit a Lab Technician to join our team at The British College of Brazil, a Nord Anglia Education school.
To provide technical support and assistance in school laboratories, typically in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The primary responsibilities revolve around ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, as well as supporting teachers and students during practical experiments and demonstrations.
You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will possess a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification, and experience. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the school’s level of achievement.
Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with students.

Required Skills/Abilities
- Degree in a science related area or equivalent - Chemistry, Biology or Physics.
- Proficiency in English language - Oral & Written communication
- Previous experience working in a science laboratory or educational setting.
- Solid understanding of laboratory safety protocols, chemical handling, and disposal procedures.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment and calibration of instruments.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate preparation and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, students, and staff members.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and record-keeping software.
- Printing of teaching resources when requested by the science teaching team.
