We are seeking a dynamic and passionate teacher of Film and English to join our international boarding school, set in the heart of the Alps. Here, the stunning surroundings are matched by a vibrant academic environment that encourages creativity and exploration. As part of our team, you will inspire students to engage with the worlds of both film and literature, exploring their diversity across time, cultures, and contexts, teaching these subjects with enthusiasm and purpose. Our state-of-the-art Film department is equipped with the latest technology, including green screens, to meet the demands of the IBDP programme. You’ll have the opportunity to guide students in creating visually striking work, fostering their passion for storytelling. Whether they are taking their first steps into film or aspiring to follow in the footsteps of great directors, you will help them find their creative voices.


As a qualified teacher, fluent in English and experienced with the IBDP curriculum, you will bring energy, expertise, and a collaborative spirit to our diverse student body. You’ll be an excellent communicator, confident in using modern technology, and eager to contribute fully to the academic and extracurricular life of the school. A good sense of humour, strong organisational skills, and a willingness to embrace the unique lifestyle of a boarding school are essential to thriving in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Build a strong profile for the subject within and beyond the English Faculty, by working collaboratively and with a commitment to continuous improvement and development of the quality of students’ learning
  • Develop and deploy resources to support high quality student learning, by planning effective teaching programmes which provide exemplary learning opportunities within and beyond the classroom
  • Make effective use of formative and summative assessment to plan challenging learning opportunities for all students and effectively using homework and other extra-curricular learning opportunities
  • Support the academic progress of a small group of students within one of our boarding house
  • Act as coach and mentor to individual tutees
  • Contribute to whole school learning initiatives

 

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Strong knowledge in IBDP curriculum
  • Relevant degree in Film and Art or similar
  • Teaching qualification
  • English/French native speaker

 

EXPERIENCE

 

  • 2 years’ teaching experience
  • Experience of being part of a highly successful department and school
  • Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage children and enable them to perform highly
  • Experience of delivering a UK National Curriculum and/or the IB Diploma
