About the School

 

Nord Anglia International School Abu Dhabi is e a UK curriculum day school enrolling students from Early Years to Year 13 in the city’s prestigious residential district Al Reem Island, next to the Sorbonne University campus. Our new school will has the capacity for 2,600 students upon completion. Its first phase of development, openeded September 2023, included the Early Years building and sports facilities, while the second phase opening in Summer 2024 will include the main Primary and Secondary classrooms.

 

 

About the role 

 

As an EAL Teaching assistant, you shall support pupils with EAL needs across the school and contribute to raising the educational achievement of these pupils by working in sustained collaboration with curriculum and inclusion teams.

 

 

EAL Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain assessment and evaluation systems, demonstrating the effectiveness of strategies and value for money for the school.
  • Prepare and evaluate appropriate learning materials which support the development of EAL.
  • Maintain existing resources and explore opportunities to develop new resources for students with EAL.
  • Keep abreast of good practice and new approaches in teaching methods, curricular development and statutory requirements through reading relevant documents, attendance at meetings and professional development activities and disseminating this information within the school.
  • Advise on appropriate strategies for developing EAL for individual students.
  • Work in collaboration with the SEN team where appropriate.

 

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as an EAL Teaching Assistant
  • High level of international and inter-cultural understanding
  • High level of fluency in written and spoken English

 

Ideally, candidates will already be based in the UAE.
