The Role

 

The successful candidate will be able to inspire students of all ages and abilities. Classroom resources are plentiful, and expectations are high for achievement for all students. Job Purpose

 

To lead all aspects of the Arabic provision of the school such that all students achieve exceptional academic, personal and social outcomes.

  • Lead the Head of Islamic and Social Studies to ensure outstanding provision in these subjects

 

Strategic Direction and Development

  • Contribute to existing policies or develop policies and practice for Arabic, which reflects the school’s commitment to effective teaching and learning
  • Establish a clear and shared understanding of the importance and role of Arabic in our community
  • Advise the school on local and national Arabic priorities and their incorporation into the school plan for redevelopment
  • Establish with the involvement of relevant staff, plans for the development and resourcing of Arabic
  • Monitor the progress made in achieving planned targets, evaluate the effects upon teaching and learning and use the information to inform further improvement
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to support, maintain and enhance the positive image and ethos of the school.

 

 

Teaching and Learning

  • Have teaching skills which lead to learners achieving well relative to their prior attainment, making progress as good as, or better than, similar learners nationally
  • Have an extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential
  • Have a more developed knowledge and understanding of Arabic and related pedagogy including how learning progresses
  • To ensure that school policies and schemes of work are implemented throughout Arabic
  • To ensure that a high standard of physical and emotional care of all children is maintained
  • To develop and maintain highly effective inclusion procedures which promote high standards of behaviour and good levels of attendance.
  • To support the Head of Learning Support in ensuring that effective systems are in place to identify and meet needs and that they are coordinated, monitored, evaluated and reviewedFacilitate development of teacher pedagogical knowledge and practice, knowledge of student development and learning needs, current best practices in education and differentiation of instruction.
  • To ensure pupils and staff within Arabic are supported to create a positive school ethos.
  • To assist in the promotion of understanding and active co-operation between staff and parents on all school matters
  • To provide support and advice for parents to create effective partnerships for the learning of Arabic
  • To liaise with outside agencies when appropriate and necessary.

 

 

Leading and Managing Staff

  • Facilitate staff in making constructive working relationships with children, their parents/carers and outside agencies
  • Establish clear expectations for staff involved in Arabic, through team working and mutual support, devolving responsibilities and delegating tasks as appropriate, evaluating practice and developing a culture of accountability
  • Ensure high quality training, monitoring and support is provided during the induction of new staff.
  • Lead by example, provide inspiration and motivation
  • Carry out Performance Management reviews with Arabic staff

 

 

Efficient and Effective Deployment of Staff and Resources

  • Identify staff and resource needs for Arabic about likely priorities for expenditure, and allocate available resources with maximum efficiency and value for money.
  • Ensure effective and efficient management and organisation of learning resources.
  • Maintain existing resources and explore opportunities to develop or incorporate new resources from a wide range of sources inside and outside the school.
  • Create a stimulating environment for teaching and learning.

 

 

Extra Curricular Activities

  • Support the life of the school beyond the classroom;
  • Lead one or more agreed after school activities each week;
  • Participate in residential weeks and other trips as appropriate;
