Summary
The British School of Nanjing, part of Nord Anglia Education, is seeking an Assistant Head of Key Stage 2 (KS2). This is a combined classroom-based and middle leadership role within a dynamic, global private school network. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher who is responsible for supporting curriculum delivery, enhancing student engagement and school spirit, strengthening parental partnerships, and ensuring high-quality, inclusive teaching, both within their class and across their Key Stage.
Key Responsibilities
The role is divided into several key areas:
- Leadership & School Culture:
- Working alongside our primary and whole school leadership teams.
- Leading initiatives to increase student enrolment, engagement and retention.
- Supporting enrichment activities and extra-curricular events.
- Contributing to a positive school culture and upholding school values.
- Teaching & Learning:
- Delivering dynamic, inclusive, and effective lessons.
- Developing curriculum-aligned lesson plans and contributing to curriculum innovation.
- Using data to support diverse learning needs and integrating digital tools.
- Fostering creativity, problem-solving, and design thinking in students.
- Pastoral & Community:
- Strengthening parental engagement through clear communication.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Candidate Requirements
The ideal applicant must have:
- Qualifications: A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
- Background Checks: A current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (or equivalent) Disclosure for all countries lived in.
- Visa Eligibility: A bachelor's degree and at least two years of relevant teaching experience to comply with Chinese work visa requirements.
- Safeguarding: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
