Our state-of-the-art High School campus (next to Ekkamai BTS) opened in August 2017 giving our students the benefit of world-class teaching and facilities.
As part of the NAE family of schools, we are delighted to be able to offer some unique collaborations with world-class establishments, including the Juilliard School of Performing Arts, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and UNICEF.
ABOUT THE ROLE
At St Andrews Mandarin is taught as a First Language (native) programme and as a MFL (Modern Foreign Language), being a popular and well-established subject within the school. We are seeking a Mandarin specialist teacher with experience teaching Mandarin as a native programme to join the Primary School Languages team. Class sizes are small and students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a lively and engaging approach to learning through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques. The ideal candidate will convey a genuine enthusiasm for the subject and contribute collaboratively in the continued development of the Mandarin curriculum across Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3 (from Year 1 to Year 9). The successful candidate may also be required to teach some MFL groups to support the languages team.
In Primary, the Mandarin First Language Programme is offered to native students from Year 1 onwards, taught in small groups for two periods a week. Students continue the programme in High School until the end of Year 9, when they can then opt to continue studying First Language Mandarin at IGCSE and IB level.
The ideal candidate will have extensive subject knowledge of the Chinese and Singaporean National Curriculum, with experience teaching Mandarin using Simplified Chinese to native Primary School aged students (Year 1 to Year 6) and will have the flexibility and skills required to teach Mandarin in High School, up to Year 9. Previous experience teaching Mandarin First Language across Key Stages, including lower High School, is essential. The ability to teach Mandarin MFL or an additional language, such as Spanish or French, will be an advantage.
All Languages classrooms have interactive whiteboards and access to the internet, and there is a strong commitment to integrating the teaching and use of ICT skills into all areas of the curriculum, where appropriate, with iPads.
As well as their teaching, all teachers are also expected to contribute positively to both the school’s pastoral systems and the extra-curricular programme, offering an Extra-Curricular Activity that either supports or extends the students’ learning in their subject area, or from another area of personal interest.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
At St Andrews, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, and we have an excellent reputation for supporting children with special educational needs. Our Mission Statement commits us to meeting ‘all the needs of the individual learner’, and this applies equally to those students targeting the very highest grades at IGCSE and IB.
Our Community
Joining St Andrews means becoming part of a warm and inclusive community, where teachers contribute beyond the classroom. In addition to teaching, you’ll engage in our vibrant pastoral system, residential trips, and offer extracurricular activities that enhance student growth, whether in academics, creative arts, sports, or social initiatives.
Curriculum and Learning Approach

Senior students take IGCSEs and the IB Diploma, with options for the IB Career-Related Pathway and International BTECs, catering to our diverse community. We embrace technology, adapting to the continuous changes, ensuring staff and students have the tools for digital learning. Every teacher receives a personal device.
