Job Description
- Promote the mission and philosophy of the school, ensuring that children work towards being truly bilingual, international citizens.
- Ensure planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting are of high quality and meet the varying learning and social needs of students.
- Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to school development plans and growth.
- Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach, and assess effectively.
- Teach IGCSE Business and Humanities.
- Utilize student tracking and monitoring processes to advance student learning and enhance professional practice in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities.
- Take personal responsibility for professional development.
- Effectively communicate the school’s narrative, being an ambassador for the school at all times.
Engagement and Interaction:
- Support extracurricular activities and events beyond the classroom.
- Organize and plan day trips related to the subject area as needed.
- Lead extracurricular clubs according to school expectations.
- Assist with school-wide events such as productions and assemblies.
- Participate in the school's core program, including delivering a core CAS club.
Learning and Teaching:
- Inspire students to become enthusiastic, curious, and engaged learners.
- Set consistently high standards for learning.
- Develop effective learning strategies for students.
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve teaching practices.
- Plan teaching programs that offer exemplary learning opportunities.
- Identify and support individual learning needs.
- Maintain high levels of behavior conducive to learning.
- Utilize baseline data to establish ambitious targets for student achievement.
- Effectively incorporate homework and co-curricular learning opportunities.
Planning and Preparation:
- Use formative feedback and summative assessment to plan challenging learning activities for all students.
- Monitor and document students' progress to ensure they are on track to achieve challenging goals.
- Report on progress to relevant stakeholders, including students, parents, form tutors, and the Head of Department.
Professional and Personal Development:
- Fully participate in the school's performance management procedures and appraisal, including setting objectives.
- Continuously develop by identifying and implementing professional development targets, utilizing the success factors system and performance management process to reflect on teaching and learning practices.
- Develop a personal development plan to enhance performance.
- Engage in learning walks, observations, and coaching sessions as needed.
Pastoral Care:
- Act as a form tutor for students in any secondary year group.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and provide pastoral care to students.
- Maintain a purposeful and safe learning environment for all students.
- Promote the overall progress and well-being of individual students and the class.
- Contribute to the preparation of action plans and support mechanisms.
- Communicate effectively with parents and collaborate with other staff members as necessary.
Required Skills/Abilities
Qualification/Training:
- Degree level qualification or higher in Business plus PGCE/QTS – Essential
Experience:
- Experience in teaching the UK National Curriculum – Essential
- Experience in teaching IB Economics - Desirable
- Proven track record with a minimum of two years’ teaching experience – Essential
- Strong classroom practice and interpersonal skills – Essential
- Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curriculum to engage children and enable them to reach their potential – Essential
- Experience working in partnership with parents – Essential
- (if applying for Head of Faculty) Experience leading a highly successful department and school – Desirable
Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills – Essential
- Ability to teach different age ranges and English proficiency levels – Essential
