Job Description
- Promote the mission and philosophy of the school, ensuring that children work towards being truly bilingual, international citizens.
- Ensure planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting are of high quality and meet the varying learning and social needs of students.
- Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to school development plans and growth.
- Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach, and assess effectively.
- Teach Secondary Mathematics from Year 7 to Year 13.
- Utilize student tracking and monitoring processes to advance student learning and enhance professional practice in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities.
- Take personal responsibility for professional development.
- Effectively communicate the school’s narrative, being an ambassador for the school at all times.
Leadership responsibilities (for Head of Mathematics):
- Contribute to school improvement planning and the development of the curriculum.
- Develop and deploy curriculum, schemes, budgets, staffing and resources efficiently and effectively
- Ensure using your team have set challenging and developmental objectives and monitor and support this process through observations and conversations.
- Coach, mentor and help develop subject teachers to be the best they can be.
- Create meaningful accountability for outcomes.
- Be an outstanding role model.
- Work with the Head of Secondary, MLT, Assistant Head and appropriate Heads of Department and the Mathematics team to establish a clear, shared understanding of the importance of high-quality teaching of mathematics that engages students and enables them to achieve ambitious goals.
- Track and analyse data from the Assistant Head, ensuring effective challenge and intervention plans are in place for individual and groups of students.
- Analyse and interpret national, local and school data, translating international requirements and expectations into policy and practice.
- Develop and implement policies and practices for mathematics which reflect our commitment to high achievement: students are inspired to reach their potential and staff aspire to continuously develop and raise standards.
Engagement and Interaction:
- Support extracurricular activities and events beyond the classroom.
- Organize and plan day trips related to the subject area as needed.
- Lead extracurricular clubs according to school expectations.
- Assist with school-wide events such as productions and assemblies.
- Participate in the school's core program, including delivering a core CAS club.
Learning and Teaching:
- Inspire students to become enthusiastic, curious, and engaged learners.
- Set consistently high standards for learning.
- Develop effective learning strategies for students.
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve teaching practices.

Required Skills/Abilities
Qualification/ Training:
- Qualified to degree level or above in mathematics plus PGCE/QTS – Essential
Experience:
- Experience of teaching a UK National Curriculum– Essential
- Experience of teaching IB and IGCSE mathematics -Desirable
- Proven track record with at least two years’ teaching experience – Essential
- Good classroom practice and interpersonal skills – Essential
- Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curriculum to engage children and enable them to reach their potential – Essential
- Working in partnership with parents – Essential
- (if Head of Faculty) Experience of leading a highly successful department and school – Desirable
