Deputy Head of Primary - Academic

This is an exciting opportunity for an adaptable and experienced professional to bring our school’s curriculum to life for our students and the wider school community.

You will be an outstanding leader, ensuring ambitious standards of achievement for all students through the development of learning, teaching and the curriculum. You will be a skilled communicator, able to work with and through the Phase and Subject Leaders to monitor, evaluate and raise standards. As a senior leader, you will have an eye on the future and will support the Primary Leadership Team in developing teaching and learning as well as ensuring the smooth day to day running of the Primary School.

The Deputy Head Academic also acts as the EmpowerUs champion for all school staff to provide support in using the EmpowerUs competency framework in their work and interactions with one another.

  • Ensure continuity across Primary and contribute to the development of curriculum, pedagogy, and teaching across the school.

  • Build strong teams and create conditions that allow staff to learn from each other.

  • Continually work to improve the quality of students’ learning across the curriculum, particularly in relation to English language development.

  • Contribute to school improvement planning and curriculum development.

  • Promote the school’s mission and values, as well as those of the NAE family of schools.

Qualifications/Trainings

 

  • Qualified to degree level
  • Qualified Teacher Status 

 

Experience and Knowledge

 

  • Experience of impact in a multi-subject leadership role
  • Experience in supporting other staff members to develop and grow
  • Contemporary knowledge of pedagogy from EYFS to Year 6 ENC
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering or adapting schemes such as White Rose and Talk for Writing
  • Proven track record with at least five years’ teaching experience
  • Experience of being part of a highly successful department and school
  • Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage children and enable them to perform highly
  • Knowledge of school information management systems (iSAMS, Wellbeing Manager)
  • Wide-ranging, up-to-date safeguarding knowledge, awareness of trends, and a solid understanding of KCSIE
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents
