Economics Teacher

 

About the role

 

Join our fast-paced international environment and teach Economics within a curriculum based on the National Curriculum for England, GCSEs/IGCSEs, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Specifically, you will teach Economics Higher Level and Standard Level courses in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. You will encourage students to set ambitious goals and use innovative teaching practices to improve their learning experience and outcomes. You will also take on the wider responsibilities of a teacher in an international school, including being an enthusiastic form tutor and participating in the school’s care and guidance programme as well as co-curricular activities.

 

About you

 

You should be able to create a classroom culture where students feel there are no limits to what they can achieve. Ideally, you will have a degree in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification, and significant teaching experience with knowledge of the curriculum. You should be open to feedback and willing to embrace change, and be eager to share best practices with colleagues. As a strong ambassador for the school, you will find new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and the Nord Anglia Education community. Your strong motivation and communication skills will help create an atmosphere of energy, excitement, and personal investment in the classroom.

  • Engage and motivate students to strive for the highest achievement.
  • Use technology in the classroom to enhance learning.
  • Be relentless in the quest for excellence, using achievement and progress data and lesson observations to seek out and promote excellent teaching.
  • Support continuity across all phases and contribute to the development of curriculum, pedagogy and teaching across the school.
  • Continually strive to develop the quality of students’ learning across the curriculum, particularly in relation to language development.
  • Contribute to school improvement planning and the development of the curriculum.
  • Develop and deploy curriculum, schemes and resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Promote the school mission and values and those of the NAE family of schools.

Qualifications/Trainings

  • Qualified to bachelor degree level or above 
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent for countries lived in outside of the UK 
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, and willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training when required 

 

Experience

 

  • Proven track record with at least two years’ teaching experience 
  • Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curriculum to engage children and enable them to perform highly 
  • Experience working in partnership with parents 

 

Skills

 

  • Excellent oral and written communication in English 
  • Ability to engage children and enable them to perform highly
  • Strong organisational skills and use of technology
