Secondary Teacher of Computer Science along with Business or General Science
About the role
Join our fast-paced international environment and you will lead a dedicated the teaching and development of computing across the secondary age and ability ranges within a curriculum founded on the National Curriculum for England, GCSEs/IGSCEs and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
You will inspire, enable and empower your team to continually seek to raise standards. You will challenge students to set ambitious targets for themselves and seek out and implement innovative teaching practices to enhance the student experience and outcomes. You will be committed to the wider role of a teacher in an international school and be an enthusiastic form tutor and involve yourself in our care and guidance programme and co-curricular activities.
About you
Able to create a team and classroom culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, ideally you will have a degree in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues.
A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students, teachers and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. Your strong motivation and communication skills will also enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement and personal investment within the classroom.
Responsibilities
In fulfilling the requirements of the post, the Teacher of Computer Science and ICT will demonstrate essential professional characteristics, and in particular will:
- Generate excitement and passion for the subject in students and the wider school community;
- Inspire trust and confidence in students, colleagues and parents;
- Engage and motivate students to strive for the highest achievement;
- Use technology in the classroom to enhance learning;
- Experience of delivering outstanding lessons in some or all of the following Java, Python, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), SQL, machine learning, Abstract Data Structures, knowledge in computer architectureand hardware, including CPU components, memory, storage, and system performance
- Be relentless in the quest for excellence, using achievement and progress data and lesson observations to seek out and promote excellent teaching;
- Support continuity across all phases and contribute to the development of curriculum, pedagogy and teaching across the school;
- Continually strive to develop the quality of students’ learning across the curriculum, particularly in relation to language development;
- Contribute to school improvement planning and the development of the curriculum;
- Develop and deploy curriculum, schemes and resources efficiently and effectively;
- Promote the school mission and values and those of the NAE family of schools.
- Have a robust knowledge, understanding and track record of raising standards in Computing and Computer Science
- Use assessment data effectively to inform planning, intervention, and curriculum refinement, ensuring all students make sustained progress.
- Demonstrate the ability to support students with diverse learning needs, including SEN and EAL learners, through inclusive and adaptive teaching strategies.
- Have a strong track record of successful academic outcomes
- Be able to use and promote a range of teaching and learning strategies and ability to create a stimulating and safe learning environment for all students by establishing high expectations and implementing effective classroom management and organisation
- Be committed to collaborating with other staff members and building strong relationships
Qualifications/Training
- Qualified to degree level or above
- Qualified Teacher Status
Experience
- Proven track record with at least two years’ teaching experience
- Experience of delivering outstanding lessons in some or all of the following Java, Python, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), SQL, machine learning, Abstract Data Structures, knowledge in computer architecture and hardware, including CPU components, memory, storage, and system performance
- Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage children and enable them to perform highly
- Working in partnership with parents
