Léman International School Chengdu (LIS) is looking to recruit a TEACHER OF EARLY YEARS, to drive excellent teaching and learning.

Nord Anglia Education is looking to recruit an Early Years Teacher to join our team. The role:

We seek a qualified Teacher of Early Years where your focus will be:

  • To drive excellent teaching and learning by adopting a focused approach to teaching which is tailored to young children's developmental needs.
  • Engaging and interacting as a school ambassador to the community through building positive relationships with peers, students and families, involving families and the community in the educational process to create a supportive network for students.
  • Integrating play into the curriculum, fostering creativity, exploration, and social skills. Using structured and unstructured play to support learning objectives.
  • Ensure that activities are suitable for the children’s age and developmental stage. Promoting engagement and effective learning.
  • Build trusting relationships with children. Forming positive connections which enhance our students emotional security and willingness to engage in learning.
  • Regularly observe and assess children’s progress through informal and formal observation methods and planning in the moment to tailor instruction to individual needs.
  • Create a rich learning environment with diverse materials that encourages exploration and inquiry with free flow between indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • Encourage strong partnerships with families, regularly communicating and involving families and parents in school activities  tohelp reinforce learning at home.
  • Prioritise language development through storytelling, songs, and conversations, incorporate a variety of texts and literacy-rich activities.
  • Incorporate activities that promote social skills, emotional awareness, and conflict resolution, Laying the groundwork for positive interactions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with early childhood education trends and research, which can enhance teaching practices.
  • Acknowledge and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of children, incorporating multicultural opportunities and perspectives into the curriculum.
  • Foster self-help skills and independence by allowing children to make choices and take on responsibilities appropriate to their age.

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
  • a minimum of 2 years relevant teaching experience
  • Teaching qualification
  • Strong Subject Knowledge: A solid understanding of the primary curriculum, including literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects.
  • Effective Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Classroom Management Skills: Techniques for maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adjust teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Passion for Teaching: A genuine enthusiasm for education and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
  • Empathy and Understanding: The capacity to understand and support students' social, emotional, and academic needs.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
  • Creativity: Innovative approaches to lesson planning and problem-solving in the classroom.
  • Assessment Skills: Proficiency in using various assessment methods to evaluate student progress and inform instruction.
  • Lifelong Learning Attitude: A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with educational best practices.
  • Technological Proficiency: Comfort with using educational technology to enhance learning experiences.

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment as well as meet visa-related restrictions for China, including Bachelor’s Degree or Higher and a minimum of 2 years of work experience since graduating.
