Léman International School Chengdu (LIS) is looking to recruit a Head of Primary & Early Years, to drive excellent teaching and Learning.

 

Nord Anglia Education – the world’s leading private school’s organisation is recruiting a Head of Primary & Early Years. You will be joining the Leadership team in our Léman International School Chengdu team.

 

In the role of Head of Primary & Early Years, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership of the Primary School (Years 1–6) and Early Years (Pre-nursery to Reception).

 

The role:

As Head of Primary & Early your focus will be to:

  • Lead the strategic direction, development, and day-to-day management of Primary and EYFS, ensuring excellence in teaching, learning, and care.
  • Inspire and support your team of teachers and Learning Support Assistants in driving professional growth and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Ensure the Primary and  EYFS curriculum is creative, purposeful, and fully aligned with the school’s mission, vision and values, while also reflecting the best of international Primary and Early Years practice.
  • Promote high-quality learning and teaching across all areas, with a strong emphasis on academic success, independence, metacognition and holistic development.
  • Monitor children’s progress rigorously, ensuring assessment is meaningful and used to inform next steps in learning.
  • Work closely with families, building positive and supportive relationships so that parents are fully engaged in their child’s learning journey.
  • Champion safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion within the Primary & EYFS, ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and empowered to thrive.
  • Ensure smooth transitions from EYFS into Lower Primary and Year 6 into Year 7.
  • Celebrate diversity and promote equity through events, enrichment activities, and inclusive practices that reflect our global school community.
  • Model the school’s values in all aspects of leadership, fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and ambition for every child.

 

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • Teaching Qualification with QTS
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a Primary or whole-school context, preferably in an international setting.
  • Demonstrated success in raising academic standards through the strategic use of data, including setting targets, tracking progress, and leading evidence-informed interventions.
  • Deep understanding of assessment for learning, progress tracking systems, and how data informs
