Léman International School Chengdu (LIS) is looking to recruit a IBDP and MYP Chemistry & General Science Teacher, to drive excellent teaching and Learning.

In the role of IBDP and MYP Chemistry & General Science Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging science curricula that align with the IB MYP and DP frameworks, guiding students to think critically, conduct meaningful investigations, and apply their scientific knowledge to real-world contexts.
The role:
As IBDP and MYP Chemistry & General Science Teacher your focus will be:
- Curriculum Planning and Delivery: Design and deliver engaging MYP Science and DP Chemistry lessons aligned with IB standards and practices, ensuring conceptual, contextual, and inquiry-based learning.
- Inquiry and Experimentation: Facilitate hands-on scientific inquiry, experimentation, and investigation, encouraging students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Conceptual Understanding: Build deep understanding of key science concepts—such as matter, energy, change, and systems—and connect them to real-world contexts.
- Assessment and Feedback: Plan and implement assessments using MYP criteria (A–D) and DP internal/external assessment components, providing timely and constructive feedback to support student progress.
- Laboratory Management: Maintain a safe, organised, and well-resourced laboratory, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and risk assessments.
- Integration of Technology: Use digital tools, data-logging equipment, and simulations to enhance teaching, learning, and inquiry in science.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Contribute to Interdisciplinary Units (IDUs) and collaborate across departments to strengthen students’ understanding of science in broader contexts.
- Student Guidance and Support: Support students in developing ATL skills (Approaches to Learning), scientific literacy, and exam readiness, including guidance for DP Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs).
- Global and Ethical Contexts: Promote awareness of ethical, environmental, and global issues related to scientific discovery and innovation in line with the IB learner profile.
- Professional Growth and Contribution: Engage actively in departmental planning, moderation, and professional learning, contributing to curriculum review, innovation, and whole-school improvement.
- Reflective Practice: Encourage both teachers and students to engage in reflective practice. Regular reflection helps identify strengths, areas for improvement, and strategies for enhancing teaching and learning.
The Successful Candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
- A minimum of 2 years’ relevant teaching experience
- Teaching qualification
- Strong Subject Knowledge: A solid understanding of the primary curriculum, including literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects.
- Effective Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Classroom Management Skills: Techniques for maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.
- Adaptability: The ability to adjust teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Passion for Teaching: A genuine enthusiasm for education and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
- Empathy and Understanding: The capacity to understand and support students' social, emotional, and academic needs.
- Collaborative Spirit: Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
- Creativity: Innovative approaches to lesson planning and problem-solving in the classroom.
- Assessment Skills: Proficiency in using various assessment methods to evaluate student progress and inform instruction.
