Location: Dalian American International School/Dalian Huamei School
We’re looking to recruit a Director of Counselling and Student Services to join our Dalian American International School, a Nord Anglia Education school.
THE SCHOOL
DAIS is an American international school in the Golden Pebble Beach National Resort, in Jinzhou New District, Dalian, China, about 60 kilometres east of the centre of Dalian.
Founded in 2006, DAIS has provided every student with an opportunity to achieve personal excellence and to contribute to the global community. It serves students of approximately 30 nationalities in Pre-K through 12th grade.
The language of instruction is English for all classes with the exception of proficiency levelled Mandarin classes.
THE ROLE
We are currently seeking a Director of Counselling and Student Services to lead our student support programs. This position will oversee the further development and implementation of counselling services, ensuring that all students receive comprehensive emotional, social, academic, careers and higher education support throughout their time at the school.
The Director of Counselling and Student Services is a member of the School Academic Leadership Team and serves as the Coordinator and Manager of Counselling and Student Services for Dalian American International School, Dalian Huamei School, and Dalian Huamei Bilingual and Heritage School programs. The Director of Counselling and Student Services evaluates and enhances the effectiveness of Student Services on the school campus. Provides leadership, oversight, and technical support and assistance to Counselling, Language Acquisition, and Learning Support.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees or certifications in counselling, psychology, social work, or related fields preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in student counselling or student services leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of child development, mental health issues affecting students, and best practices in school higher education counselling
- Experience working within an international school setting is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administration
- Proven leadership abilities including program development, staff supervision, and crisis management
