The Director of Sport is expected to oversee curriculum implementation, student engagement and development through school sport (competitive and participation), and outreach to develop links with local sports clubs.

The Role
We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced Director of Sport to offer leadership, inspiration and guidance to an outstanding team of PE teachers and colleagues commitment to supporting sports teams. The British School of Guangzhou has an enviable reputation as a school where children achieve excellent academic results and have a great time doing it. The successful candidate will need to be a leader who can build on this current in school practices to help us to achieve opportunities for all studest within BSG.
You will oversee the Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links programme across the whole school. The successful candidate will be someone with excellent people skills who is able to inspire and lead our team of dedicated professionals and demonstrate the drive and commitment to achieving our promise.
In addition, you will be a key member of the school’s Extended Leadership Team and will need to be able to work closely with Senior Leaders, (Principal, Heads of Phases and Director of Admissions and Marketing) to guide the overall strategic direction of Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links across the whole school.
The Successful Candidate will possess:
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, HDipEd, or equivalent).
- Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure for all countries lived in.
- Compliance with visa requirements for working.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, and a willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training when required.

The Person
Will have a Bachelor degree or above, with a minimum of 3 years leadership experience in the UK schools or a reputable British Curriculum International School. Will be an excellent communicator, who gets on well with colleagues, students, parents, technology and change. Amongst other things, you will be dedicated to creating a love of learning amongst the students and understand the importance of enjoyment in the education process. You will need to be well organised; have a good sense of humour and an understanding of the expectations of high achieving international parents. While we are keen to attract applicants with high expectations, they will also need to have a flexible nature and an understanding that things do not always go to plan within China. If you are not able to deal with frustrations in a culturally sensitive manner this is not the post for you.

- Be willing to go above and beyond to help our School reach its full potential;
- Be willing to work collaboratively with other Extended Senior Team Leaders for the benefit of the whole-school
