Health and Safety Manager

Location: Etqan Global Academy, Doha, Qatar

Nord Anglia Education is looking to recruit a Health & Safety Manager to join Etqan Global Academy in Doha, Qatar.

We are looking for someone to support, maintain and improve the school’s health and safety management arrangements, ensuring a safe, compliant and well-managed environment for students, staff, visitors and contractors.

The role:

We seek an individual to join as a Health & Safety Manager where your focus will be:

• Leading the implementation of the school’s health and safety management system, ensuring policies and procedures are understood and applied
• Providing practical health and safety advice and guidance to school leadership, operations, facilities and teaching teams
• Coordinating and maintaining risk assessments across school activities, facilities, educational visits, events and contractors
• Carrying out regular health and safety inspections and audits across the school site
• Leading or supporting incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions
• Supporting the development and testing of emergency response arrangements, including fire evacuation, lockdown and medical emergency procedures
• Delivering health and safety induction, training and awareness sessions for staff and contractors
• Managing contractor safety compliance and monitoring contractor activities on site
• Reporting regularly on health and safety performance to school and regional leadership

The Successful Candidate will possess:

• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent experience, e.g. NEBOSH International General Certificate
• Experience in a health and safety role, ideally within a school, education, facilities, hospitality or healthcare environment
• Strong understanding of risk assessment, inspections, incident investigation and corrective action management
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders in a school environment
• Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records
• IOSH Managing Safely, First Aid or Fire Safety training (desirable)
• Experience working in Qatar or the wider GCC (desirable)
