The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher to join our Primary School team. This is an exciting opportunity to support our diverse community of learners as they develop their English language skills within the inquiry-led environment of the IB Primary Years Programme.
We are looking for a skilled EAL professional with a focus on:
- Supporting Language Development: Providing targeted, high-quality EAL support to primary students, helping them access the PYP curriculum and develop strong English language skills across listening, speaking, reading and writing.
- Delivering Engaging Instruction: Planning and delivering differentiated lessons, both in withdrawal sessions and through in-class support, tailored to the diverse linguistic needs of students.
- Assessing Student Progress: Using a range of assessment tools to identify language needs, monitor progress and provide meaningful feedback to students, parents and class teachers.
- Collaborating with Class Teachers: Working closely with PYP class teachers to plan inclusive lessons, share language strategies and support EAL learners within mainstream classrooms.
- Fostering an Inclusive Environment: Creating a welcoming, supportive classroom culture that celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity and helps every student to thrive.
- Engaging with the School Community: Communicating with parents to share progress, provide strategies for home and build strong relationships across our international community.
- Contributing to School Initiatives: Participating in extra-curricular activities, school events and initiatives that enrich students’ educational experience.

What We Are Looking For
- A recognised teaching qualification, with a specialism, additional qualification or significant experience in EAL/EFL/TESOL.
- Experience teaching EAL learners in a primary school setting, ideally within an international or multilingual environment.
- A strong understanding of second language acquisition, scaffolding strategies and inclusive teaching practices.
- Familiarity with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is highly desirable; experience with inquiry-based learning is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, motivating students of all backgrounds and abilities to achieve their best.
- Enthusiasm for being part of a collaborative team dedicated to delivering a high-quality international education.
- The ability to meet visa and work permit-related requirements for Ireland.
