About Nord Anglia International School Dublin

Nord Anglia International School Dublin (NAIS Dublin) is part of Nord Anglia Education, the world's leading premium international schools organisation, with more than 80 schools across 30 countries educating over 85,000 students globally.

Opened in 2018, NAIS Dublin was the city's first international school of its kind, educating students aged 3 to 18 on a modern campus in Leopardstown. Our school community is ambitious, inclusive and internationally minded, and we are committed to providing an outstanding environment for both students and staff.

The Role

This is a newly created role at NAIS Dublin, bringing together responsibility for health, safety and statutory compliance with the day to day maintenance of our campus. You will act as the school's dedicated health and safety professional, managing the risk assessment framework, statutory inspection schedule, fire safety programme and contractor compliance, while also taking care of routine building maintenance and minor repairs across the site.

You will work closely with the Head of Operations and the wider school community to embed a strong safety culture and keep our campus running smoothly, ensuring NAIS Dublin meets all obligations under Irish health and safety legislation and Nord Anglia Education Group standards. This is a standalone specialist role with genuine scope to shape both functions from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Health and safety

  • Manage and maintain the school's health and safety management system in line with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and associated regulations
  • Develop, review and update the school's Safety Statement and risk assessments on a scheduled and reactive basis
  • Conduct regular health and safety inspections of all school areas, record findings and drive completion of corrective actions
  • Act as Fire Safety Officer: maintain the fire risk assessment, coordinate statutory equipment checks and organise fire evacuation drills
  • Manage the statutory inspection schedule for all building systems, ensuring no certification lapses
  • Manage contractor health and safety induction, the permit to work process and RAMS review for on-site works
  • Investigate accidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences and submit statutory notifications to the Health and Safety Authority where required
  • Deliver or coordinate health and safety induction for new staff and ongoing training as required
  • Act as COSHH coordinator and manual handling lead for the school

Maintenance and facilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs and general upkeep of school buildings, fixtures and grounds
  • Undertake daily checks of doors, fire exits and building fabric, repairing minor faults promptly
  • Check and maintain heating, cooling, security and fire protection systems in line with servicing schedules
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors carrying out maintenance or repair works on site
  • Move and store furniture, equipment and materials as required around the school
  • Maintain a log of maintenance requests and ensure timely completion
  • Support the setup and breakdown of school events, exams and activities as needed
  • Carry out other reasonable maintenance and facilities duties as requested by the Head of Operations

What We Are Looking For

Essential

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent Irish health and safety qualification
  • Proven experience in a dedicated health and safety role with responsibility for risk assessment and compliance
  • Experience managing fire safety obligations, including drills, equipment checks and fire risk assessments
  • Experience managing statutory inspection schedules and regulatory compliance programmes
  • Experience applying permit to work processes and supervising contractors from a health and safety perspective
  • Knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
  • Practical experience of building maintenance, minor repairs or general facilities work
  • Confident and assertive when enforcing safety requirements, with good influencing skills
  • Clear communicator, able to engage effectively with staff, contractors and regulatory bodies
  • Proactive and methodical, with a detail-oriented approach to both compliance and maintenance

Desirable

  • Degree or diploma in occupational health and safety or a related discipline
  • Fire safety officer qualification or certified fire safety training
  • First aid at work certificate
  • Experience in a school, public sector or similarly complex multi-stakeholder environment
  • Basic trade skills, such as plumbing, electrical or carpentry

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary of Euro 37,000 to Euro 45,000, depending on experience
  • A newly created, standalone role with real scope to build and shape both the health and safety and maintenance functions
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment within an internationally recognised school
  • Access to Nord Anglia Education's global network of schools and professional development opportunities
  • A modern, well-equipped campus in Leopardstown, Dublin 18
  • Membership of an occupational pension scheme
