Job Description
The MYP Design Teacher delivers an integrated Digital and Product Design programme that develops students’ creativity, engineering thinking, and problem-solving skills through hands-on learning experiences including robotics, STEM projects, Arduino programming, coding, prototyping, and 3D printing.
The role focuses on guiding students through the IB Design Cycle, enabling them to design, create, test, and evaluate real-world solutions using technology and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning (Digital + Product Design)
Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with IB MYP Design curriculum.
Teach integrated modules including:
Robotics and automation
STEM and engineering design challenges
Arduino and physical computing
Coding and computational thinking
3D modelling and 3D printing
2. IB Design Cycle Implementation
Guide students through the IB Design Cycle stages:
Inquiry & Analysis
Developing Ideas
Creating Solutions
Testing & Evaluation
The design cycle structures how students research problems, develop prototypes, and evaluate solutions in MYP Design.
3. Makerspace & Innovation Lab Management
Manage Design Lab / STEM Lab / Makerspace environments.
Ensure safe use of tools, robotics kits, and fabrication equipment.
4. Assessment & Documentation
Assess students using IB MYP Design criteria (A–D).
Provide formative and summative feedback
5. Collaboration & Interdisciplinary Learning
Collaborate with Science, Math, and ICT teachers for STEM integration.
Design interdisciplinary units aligned with IB philosophy.
6. Student Development
Foster innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking.
Develop collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Job Responsibilities
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong understanding of IB MYP Design framework and Design Cycle (Inquiry, Developing Ideas, Creating Solutions, Evaluating).
- Ability to facilitate inquiry-based and concept-driven learning.
- Experience assessing students using MYP Criteria A–D.
- Integration of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills such as research, collaboration, communication, and self-management.
- Coding and computational thinking (Scratch, Python, block-based or similar platforms).
- Digital product design and prototyping.
- Knowledge of app design, digital media tools, or UI/UX basics.
- Creative problem-solving mindset.
- Human-centered design thinking approach.
- Ability to guide ideation, prototyping, and iteration processes.
