Job Description

Job Purpose

The MYP Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, inquiry-based mathematics education aligned with the IB framework. The role focuses on developing conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and real-world application of mathematics while fostering critical thinking and international-mindedness.


Key Responsibilities

1. Curriculum Planning, Teaching & Assessment

  • Plan and deliver engaging, concept-based Mathematics lessons aligned with IB MYP standards.
  • Design inquiry-driven units that promote critical thinking and real-world application of mathematical concepts.
  • Develop and implement formative and summative assessments using IB criteria.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student learning and growth.
  • Analyze student performance data to inform instruction and improve outcomes.
  • Differentiate instruction and assessments to meet diverse learning needs

2. Classroom Management & Student Engagement

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Encourage inquiry, collaboration, and independent thinking among students.
  • Use varied teaching strategies to enhance engagement and participation.

3. Collaboration & School Contribution

  • Collaborate with colleagues for interdisciplinary planning and curriculum alignment.
  • Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and IB initiatives.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress.

Job Responsibilities

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong subject expertise in Mathematics (algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, etc.)
  • Ability to deliver concept-based and inquiry-driven teaching aligned with IB philosophy
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing IB MYP assessments (criteria-based)
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to integrate Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication into lessons
