Job Description
Job Purpose
The MYP Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, inquiry-based mathematics education aligned with the IB framework. The role focuses on developing conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and real-world application of mathematics while fostering critical thinking and international-mindedness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Curriculum Planning, Teaching & Assessment
- Plan and deliver engaging, concept-based Mathematics lessons aligned with IB MYP standards.
- Design inquiry-driven units that promote critical thinking and real-world application of mathematical concepts.
- Develop and implement formative and summative assessments using IB criteria.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student learning and growth.
- Analyze student performance data to inform instruction and improve outcomes.
- Differentiate instruction and assessments to meet diverse learning needs
2. Classroom Management & Student Engagement
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Encourage inquiry, collaboration, and independent thinking among students.
- Use varied teaching strategies to enhance engagement and participation.
3. Collaboration & School Contribution
- Collaborate with colleagues for interdisciplinary planning and curriculum alignment.
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and IB initiatives.
- Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress.
Job Responsibilities
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong subject expertise in Mathematics (algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, etc.)
- Ability to deliver concept-based and inquiry-driven teaching aligned with IB philosophy
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Proficiency in designing and implementing IB MYP assessments (criteria-based)
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to integrate Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication into lessons
