MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Supporting and encouraging both day and boarding students, helping them to enjoy and make the most of the learning opportunities that the school and boarding environments offer, and to assist the High School Principal in all matters from daily routine to strategic planning, and the achievement of established objectives.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

School: 

  • Promoting the school’s mission and vision by assisting students, both day and boarding, to discover and develop individual strengths, make powerful, lifelong global connections, and be their best selves.  
  • Contributing to the creation of a caring and inclusive learning environment in which students can flourish, ensuring that each student’s health and well-being are given the necessary priority.  
  • Embodying and promoting Collège du Léman’s RISE values of Respect, Internationalism, Spirit, and Excellence  

Students:  

  • Guiding students and parents on all matters relating to academic programmes and choices.  
  • Organising and guiding the Option Choice process and placement of students.  

 

Discipline:  

Managing day-to-day behavioural incidents, liaising with the Pastoral Heads, Homeroom Advisors, Student Support Services and the Director of Boarding, referring to the Principal as necessary.

Curriculum:  

  • Arranging end-of-year examinations.  

  

Admissions:  

  • Advising on application dossiers and admission decisions.  
  • Meeting with prospective families.   
  • Responding to parent enquiries. 
  • Attending ‘silo’ meetings, with follow-up on reenrolment and enrolment issues as required.  

Boarding:

  • Ensuring a comprehensive and effective boarding student induction programme, including guidance and support for the university application process.
  • Ensuring that boarding students are supported to achieve the highest standards in academics while thriving in their own personal development.
  • Ensuring support is in place and followed for EAL and SEN boarding students.
  • Using the dashboard, ensuring boarding students are on track and managing the Independent Learner list.
  • Communicating with parents on individual success, support and discipline issues.

NAE:

  • Supporting and encouraging participation in NAE initiatives. 

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Expansive knowledge and understanding of the processes and procedures within the school. A good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, working well with colleagues in all school sections and departments. Highly organised, flexible, patient, resistant to stress, sense of humour, taking initiative and responsibility and relating well to staff and students in all aspects of the job function, while being conscientious and exhibiting the highest standards of professionalism at all times

You should possess a teaching qualification and a Bachelor's Degree, with a preference for qualifications in International Education and a Master's Degree in Education. You have experience in high school teaching, particularly in examination programmes, along with previous leadership positions. Preferred experience includes working within a boarding environment Additionally, you must be familiar with the NAE mission and philosophy. Excellent command of English is mandatory, with a working knowledge of French preferred. Prior knowledge of processes and procedures at CDL would be advantageous, and bilingual proficiency in English and French would be highly desirable.
