MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This function plays a crucial role in using the CDL sailboat to deliver various programs designed by the school. As an Extracurricular (XTR) Sailing Instructor, you will have the exciting responsibility of leading sailing programs that serve multiple purposes. These programs range from training and leading sailing racing teams to guiding small groups of students through introductory and discovery experiences on the lake. In addition to your instructional duties, you will also serve as a liaison with your peers and act as a technical point of reference between CDL and CNV (the relevant sailing association). This coordination ensures that the necessary resources are made available and that the sailing programs operate smoothly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Students and Staff

  • Promote interest in the Sail Racing programme amongst students, thereby developing demand for places.
  • Welcoming, monitoring, accompanying and supervising students aged 8 to 18.
  • Leading hands-on and/or sailing classes to entertain and engage students.
  • Developing and obtaining approvals for activity protocols, risks assessment, material status, activity logistics, and health and safety protocols, as required by the Head of Department.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

Required

  • Sailing Permit (for residents in Switzerland)
  • Motorboat Permit (for residents in either Switzerland or France)
  • Experience and competence in the use of both sailing and motorboats combined with energy, drive physical fitness and the willingness and enthusiasm to attract both students and staff into the programme.
  • Regatta Participation as crew or skipper
  • Prior knowledge of navigation rules and regulations for Lake Geneva
  • Taking initiative and responsibility, with particular regard to the safety of students and staff and exhibiting the highest standards of professionalism at all times.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written and in English and French.

Preferred

  • Sailing Permit (for residents in France)
  • Navigation rules and regulations for sea and ocean racing

CONDITIONS

Working Hours (Approximation):

From April to June and from the end of August until October, Monday to Friday 16.00 to 19.00 plus Sunday times to be agreed. 18.5 H/W per 16 weeks. July and August, Monday to Thursday, from 13.30 to 17.00. 16.5 H/W per 6 weeks.

Contract details

Fix salary split over 12 monthly payments for an average working rate of 17%.
