MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a Substitute Teacher at Collège du Léman, your role is to manage a class on an occasional basis, according to the needs of the Preschool and Primary departments. You create a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment, fostering a positive classroom climate in which students are encouraged to become independent and active participants in their own learning.

You will enable each student to acquire the fundamental knowledge and skills expected, while nurturing their curiosity about the world around them.

 

This is an on-call position, paid on an hourly basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students;
  • Teach the IEYC (International Early Years Curriculum)  and IPC (International Primary Curriculum), and integrate Nord Anglia initiatives into your teaching
  • Promote the school’s RISE values and implement a positive, restorative approach to discipline
  • Collaborate within the team to ensure horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment
  • Maintain a class journal and detailed planning consistent with Collège du Léman’s programmes
  • Observe, assess and report on each student’s progress, and communicate this information clearly and regularly to parents
  • Provide varied, differentiated and student-centred teaching that respects the school’s curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS

A recognised Early Years Primary Teaching Degree is mandatory (PGCE, CRPE or MEEF mention 1er degré, Bachelor of Science/Arts in Primary Education from a HEP, or equivalent).

EXPERIENCE

Succesfull experience in teaching Early years or Primary, ideally in an international environment.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

The post holder must remain fully aware of child protection guidelines, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries while developing supportive and effective working relationships with students.

You must also demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of the importance of diversity and inclusion, and a commitment to opposing any form of discrimination.

As part of the selection process, background checks and reference verifications covering the last ten years will be conducted.
