ASSISTANT HEAD OF PRIMARY

Location: Guangzhou, China

We’re looking to recruit an Assistant Head with experience of teaching and leading Early Years or Primary aged students to join The British School of Guangzhou, a Nord Anglia Education school.

Our Assistant Heads work collaboratively as part of our Primary Leadership Team (PLT) and will liaise, with colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to delivering our curriculum and to guide our overall strategic direction within Guangzhou.

They will have excellent people skills and be able to inspire and demonstrate the drive and commitment to make our very good school even better. In addition, they will need to be able to liaise with colleagues, to guide an overall strategic direction across The British School.

 

ABOUT YOU

Each of our Assistant Heads has a set area of leadership in which they enjoy a high degree of autonomy and leadership, while still retaining the full support of the broader PLT. Candidates may have particular strengths and passions for things such as Pastoral, Enrichment, Curriculum-development, Teaching & Learning, Assessment & Data, Upper-Primary, Lower Primary and other. Candidates should outline their strengths in their covering letter and CV and be prepared to discuss their impact in these areas at interview.

The successful applicant will be an effective professional with a thorough knowledge of their curriculum area and relevant teaching experience. You will be expected to carry out assessment procedures for your subject area and be instrumental in maintaining or improving our excellent levels of student attainment and progress. Amongst other things, you will be well organised, have a good sense of humour and be driven to improve and develop the school.

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate confidently to diverse audiences, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. To meet visa-related expectations, you will need to hold a bachelor degree together with a PGCE and QTS qualification; and have a minimum of five years relevant experience for this key leadership role.   • Demonstrate analytical thinking and improve the quality of pupils' learning;
  • Contribute to school improvement and promote the priorities of the school development plans;
  • Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school;
  • Be proficient in learning with digital technologies

The 2023-2024 academic year was the strongest ever in terms of BSG’s academic results. In A-levels, our students achieved 69% of grades at A*-A, along with 82% at A*-B. In IGCSE, BSG students achieved an outstanding set of results, with 60% of grades at 9 – 7 for the year and 92% at 9 – 4.
