Purpose of the Job
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Financial Controller to join our Regional Finance team in HCMC. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting our schools across SEA and India. You’ll be at the heart of our financial operations - driving accuracy, ensuring compliance, and helping us continuously improve the way we work. Reporting directly to the Regional Finance Director, you’ll lead reporting deliverables, manage internal and external audits, oversee shared services, and act as a trusted partner to both the business and Group Finance. Key Result Area
- Responsibility for the accounting and filing of any regional holding or dormant companies.
- Responsibility for working with schools to review and prepare statutory accounts.
- Review and initial sign off of Quarterly Management Certification Questionnaire (MCQ).
- Leading compliance of new schools accounting with group accounting policies.
- Leading on Opening Balance sheet work with new acquisitions.
- Responsibility to review the month end, quarter end and year end accounts of the schools,
- ensuring monthly accounts are prepared on a timely basis in compliance of accounting policies and procedures of Nord Anglia Education. Interpret, review and approve monthly journals.
- Review of month end balance sheet identifying reasons for movements and variances to budget/forecast. Ensure all balance sheet items are reconciled and documented.
- Ensure all reporting deliverables are sent on time, reviewed, accurate and in the correct format for month end, quarterly and year end reporting packs
- Work with Group FC to align, enhance and standardize financial reports and to develop and implement financial and commercial processes and systems that are consistent, robust, auditable and secure.
- Encourage Best Practice processes across the region and work with schools to ensure improve efficiency of month end closing with a target of T+3 reporting deadline.
- Interpret financial; transactions, contracts or events providing appropriate analysis for accounting treatment in accordance to IFRS requirements.
- Assist the team in preparation of annual budgets, regular forecasts and cash flow forecasts and continued monitoring and review of actual performance against these budgets.
- Implementing Nord Anglia Education’s approved accounting methods and standards as well as ensuring internal processes & systems are compliant.
- Regularly review the effectiveness of internal controls covering financial and compliance controls.
- Lead and own all Compliance, Audit, and Risk procedures and practices for the region;
- Rigorous follow up with schools to ensure that all KPI data is submitted according to deadlines and is accurately reported against chart of accounts.
- Analysis of financial data to better understand historical performance and to project future financial performance, including analysis of capex, pre and post-acquisition reviews and school expansion projects.
Required Skills/Abilities
- A minimum of 5 years of leadership and management experience
- Experience in establishing internal procedures, processes and controls throughout company.
- Statutory compliance experience required.
- Extensive experience in the area of reporting and consolidation, business planning and implementation who ideally understands the Education Sector.
- Advanced Excel skills including macro’s, pivot tables and data modelling.
- Experienced in use of accounting software such as Navision
- Strong commercial background previously worked for international organizations.
