Physical Education Teacher Physical Education Teacher (IBDP SEHS or equivalent)

The Physical Education Department at the British International School of Houston is a whole school department, providing a high quality PE program for students aged 3 to 18 years old. State of the art facilities include two full size gymnasiums, swimming pool, athletics track, Astro Turf and grass fields. We are seeking to appoint an experienced PE teacher to teach both Primary and Secondary including external courses (IGCSE and IB Sports Exercise and Health Science).

Teaching and Learning
- Has experience and the skills to deliver high quality teaching of Physical Education across a range of phases of the school.
- Primary PE experience is desirable.
- Secondary experience of delivering IB Sports Exercise Health Science curricular or equivalent (A Level) is essential.
- Experience teaching Swim is desirable.
- Engages and challenges student learning through questioning and discussion techniques and proven-pedagogical strategies.
- Creates a culture of learning and manages student behaviour to ensure an environment of respect and collaboration.
- Participates in all aspects of our learning programme, in line with school policy that assists in growing the school and are linked to the agreed learning programme.
Planning and Preparation
- Sets clear learning intentions and educational outcomes.
- Designs lesson plans, activities and assessments that are aligned to the school’s curriculum and that engage students.
- Conceptualises, plans and teaches well-structured lessons and programmes that engage, inspire and stretch students; encouraging them to be ambitious
Coaching
- Lead/contribute towards coaching in the school’s Athletics Programme. This programme includes: Junior Bulldogs (Years 3-6), Middle School Teams (Years 7-9) and High School (Varsity/Junior Varsity). Priority sports are volleyball, swim, basketball and track/field.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Teaching Qualification (PGCE/Qualified Teacher Status)
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience in Physical Education to the relevant age range in a school setting.
- Primary PE experience and Secondary experience delivering IGCSE/GCSE and IB Sports Exercise Health Science curricular or equivalent (A Level) is desirable.
- Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures
- Excellent analytical skills - with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success
- Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing wit mult-functional tasks.
