IBDP ENGLISH TEACHER AND COORDINATOR
Job Summary
Seeking a passionate IBDP English Teacher with strong organizational and leadership skills for the role of IBDP Coordinator. This role involves teaching English, coordinating the IB Diploma Programme, fostering a strong TOK (Theory of Knowledge) environment, and promoting IB values within the school. Responsibilities include curriculum planning, supporting students' holistic development, guiding the TOK course, and working collaboratively with faculty and parents.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Development
- IBDP English Teaching: Teach IBDP English Language & Literature/English Literature, using engaging, student-centered methods that align with IB principles.
- TOK Guidance: Integrate TOK elements within English, encouraging critical analysis across disciplines.
- Curriculum Design: Develop and implement IBDP-aligned curriculum emphasizing critical thinking, communication, and inquiry.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Design assessments aligned with IBDP rubrics, provide feedback, and prepare students for assessments.
- Student Support: Mentor students in academic growth, supervise Extended Essays (EE) in English, and assist in TOK essay development.
IBDP Program Coordination
- Programme Leadership: Oversee all aspects of the IBDP, ensuring compliance with IB standards.
- Staff Collaboration: Work with faculty to align teaching with IBDP objectives and coordinate interdisciplinary links.
- Student and Parent Engagement: Act as primary contact for IBDP inquiries, organize information sessions, and guide families through the IB journey.
- Examination Coordination: Manage the examination process, including registration, preparation, scheduling, and communication with the IB.
- Professional Development: Facilitate ongoing professional development related to IBDP curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy.
Administrative Duties
- Record Maintenance: Maintain records of student progress, program requirements, and curriculum changes.
- Communication: Regularly communicate with school leadership, faculty, parents, and the IB to update on program developments and address issues.
- Event Coordination: Organize events, including TOK exhibitions, EE workshops, and IBDP information sessions.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s in English, Education, or related field; IB certification preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years of IBDP English teaching; experience in a coordinator role within the IB framework.
- IB Philosophy Knowledge: Strong understanding of TOK, EE, and CAS components.
- Leadership Skills: Experience in curriculum planning and faculty coordination.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, mentoring, and team-building abilities.
