Design and Development Manager

 

Location: London Victoria (hybrid model, minimum 3 days in office).

 

Nord Anglia Education is looking to recruit a Design and Development Manager into the Corporate Development team in our global London HQ to help us execute our growth strategy by supporting design and development of new campuses and existing campus expansion across Nord Anglia Education’s global portfolio of schools.

 

You will assist individual schools (utilising data driven insight) with capacity planning to ensuring efficient and effective use of our facilities.

 

You will help ensure the quality of our educational environment is commensurate with best value and aligned with our NAE premium brand.

 

The role:

We seek an individual to join as a Design and Development Manager where your focus will be to:

  • Support Head of CD&CP with coordination of campus design initiatives across the group.
  • Support Head of CD&CP by assisting project teams to coordinate design activities for new schools projects and existing schools projects.
  • Help us ensure high quality of educational environments by sharing and application of best practice in school design and project management.
  • Support Regional Project Directors to ensure the timely delivery of projects.
  • Support and advise colleagues centrally and within schools with guidance and feedback on appropriate design initiatives.
  • Create growth opportunities by supporting campus capacity planning where needed both within existing campuses and expansion projects.
  • Use internal data driven insight to develop practical solutions for efficient space use and capacity expansion.
  • Support wider Corporate Development Acquisitions Team with capacity verification, building due diligence reviews and expansion CAPEX planning.
  • Support new build and expansion projects through data driven insight and actions, support School and Regional teams with:
  • Confirming of investment needs, identify core objectives and support creation of business case.

 

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • Min 2 years post qualification Architect or Senior Architectural Designer
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies.
  • Experience with K-12 school design and other educational environments desirable.
  • Solid experience of the design procurement process with exposure to all RIBA works stages (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of UK/US educational system and how school design works in that setting.
  • Understanding of school operations in particular space use and facility requirements.
  • Ability to prepare feasibility and concept designs for school improvement projects.
  • Understanding of brand positioning and ensuring brand compliance in design.
  • Understand of cost-effective approach to design to ensure correct balance between design aesthetics and financial/feasibility constraints.
  • A positive and collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent analytical skills, particularly around data analysis and efficiency planning– with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
