We’re looking to recruit a Head of PE to join our Manila school, a Nord Anglia Education school.

 

JOB PURPOSE

 

You will be an outstanding, passionate, and dynamic Head of Physical Education, to join our dedicated, hardworking, and collaborative team.

 

You will promote and develop the teaching of Physical Education across the school and operate as a contributing member of the middle leadership team.

 

You’ll provide stimulating PE lessons that provide opportunities for all students to learn and make good progress. You’ll also organise, lead and quality assure Enrichment Lessons (ELs). You will explain the value and importance of providing additional enrichment lessons to our community and work to ensure a quality, diverse and enjoyable program is offered to our students. Swim coaching or lifeguard experience/qualifications would be highly advantageous, as would the ability to coach football.

 

The PE department teaches a wide variety of sports including swimming, basketball, football, handball, teeball, gymnastics, dance and athletics amongst others, to all students aged 2 to 18.

  1. ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY
    • ​​​​​​Inspire trust and confidence in students, colleagues, and parents
    • Use school assessment and self-evaluation processes to advance student learning and enhance professional practice in line with the school's aspirations and priorities
    • Contribute to school improvement planning and promote the learning priorities of the school improvement plan
    • Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school
  2. LEARNING AND TEACHING
    • Ensure the effective teaching and management of classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained and the best use is made of teaching time
    • Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of behaviour management through well focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships in accordance with the rules and behaviour policy of the school
  3. PLANNING AND PREPARATION
    • Identify clear teaching objectives, content, structures, and sequences of lessons appropriate to the educational needs of the pupils in his/her class
  4. PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
    • ​​​​​​​Understand the need to take responsibility for their own professional development and to keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy as relevant to their own department and mainstream departments.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

 

  • UK qualification with QTS status or Equivalent
  • Experience of teaching Physical Education
  • Proven track record with at least two years teaching experience
  • Experience with GCSE / IGCSE PE curriculums is desirable
  • Experience or background in Swim Coaching or Football Coaching is advantageous
  • High level of ICT competency
  • Able to engage and inspire students of varying ability levels
  • Experience of working in international school setting is desirable
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations.
  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
  • Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
  • You’d like to work in a purpose-led sector.

SELECTION PROCESS: There will be three stages of interview, including a panel interview.
