Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated teacher to join our Experimental Science Faculty team, helping to create authentic and inspiring learning experiences that foster curiosity and a passion for science. You will maintain high standards in your interactions with students, aiming to achieve excellent outcomes for all learners.
This position will focus on delivering an integrated science curriculum for middle school students, with an emphasis on practical, real-life connections. Your role will help nurture students' interest in progressing to CIE IGCSE Coordinated Science at Key Stage 4, with a clear progression pathway toward science courses as part of the IB Diploma Programme at Key Stage 5.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to play a key role in our STEAM Programme and extensive science-related enrichment initiatives.
Your lessons will encourage exploration, innovation, and creativity, helping students develop content knowledge and key skills. Learning experiences will be carefully sequenced to build on prior knowledge, while also allowing students to explore beyond the prescribed curriculum. You will inspire students to engage with your subject further through enrichment opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
Required Skills/Abilities
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a minimum of five years of teaching experience, including at least three years in IB MYP Years 1-3.
- A university degree or higher in a relevant Science subject.
- Essential: Experience teaching 11-16-year-olds in a secondary school setting.
- Preferred but not essential: Completion of IB Category 2 training in MYP Experimental Sciences.
- Desirable but not essential: Experience teaching Computer Science at Key Stage 4.
- A strong record of continuous professional development, demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning.
- Experience leading extracurricular activities and participating in externally organized events to enhance student learning opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality pastoral care, supporting the growth and development of young people.
- A collaborative approach, working with colleagues across subjects to develop transferable skills in students.
- Proven ability to innovate and adapt curricula to actively engage students.
- Strong proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
- Outstanding cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse community and a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the drive to measure and demonstrate success.
- A results-oriented mindset, with the ability to align efforts with key performance indicators (KPIs) to demonstrate impact as an educator.
