You'll help us to fulful the school’s mission statement by contributing to the delivery of a high-quality educational program.

As a collaborative team player, you will work closely with students, staff, and parents to achieve outstanding student outcomes through the implementation of innovative teaching and learning strategies that enhance their experiences and success.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to take on a key leadership role in developing and supporting the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) at PBIS. With the MYP in its early stages, you will have the chance to shape the future direction of our IB programs.

As the IBO MYP Coordinator, you will ensure the quality and coherence of the MYP curriculum, support the accreditation process, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Your role will involve working closely with staff, students, and the wider school community to deliver a truly international education that equips students for the challenges of the future.

As part of the Secondary School Leadership Team, you will contribute to setting the strategic direction of the school’s development and ensuring all students achieve success in their learning journey.

 

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status with a minimum of five years’ teaching experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant subject.
  • Proven leadership experience in an IB school, with at least 2-3 years of involvement in IB MYP program development.
  • Deep understanding of the IB MYP curriculum and accreditation processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and lead staff effectively.
  • Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and a passion for international education.
  • Experience in organizing extracurricular activities and participating in external events to support student enrichment.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality pastoral care to support student growth and development.
  • Active collaborator with evidence of fostering cross-disciplinary learning and developing transferable skills in students.
  • Proven ability to innovate and adapt curricula to engage students effectively.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
  • Exceptional cross-cultural and communication skills for engaging a diverse community and various stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a focus on measuring and demonstrating success.
  • Strong results orientation, with the ability to align efforts with KPIs to showcase impact as an educator.

Job Responsibilities

Required Skills/Abilities

Curriculum Implementation & Development

  • Lead the implementation, development, and ongoing review of the MYP curriculum, ensuring alignment with IB guidelines, school objectives, and student needs.
  • Collaborate with subject coordinators and teachers to emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of the MYP.
  • Ensure the curriculum is rigorous, up-to-date, and meets IB standards.

Accreditation & Compliance

  • Support the school during the accreditation process, ensuring full compliance with IB regulations and standards.
  • Organize and facilitate preparations for external IB evaluations, including self-assessments and action plans.
  • Maintain the school’s status as an IB World School.

Teacher Support & Professional Development

  • Provide continuous professional development to enhance teachers’ understanding of the MYP and improve teaching practices.
  • Foster a collaborative environment for sharing best practices and developing teaching strategies.
  • Coordinate and organize IB MYP training for new and existing staff members.

Assessment and Evaluation

  • Oversee the implementation of the MYP assessment framework to ensure alignment with the program’s philosophy.
  • Coordinate the moderation process and ensure accurate recording and reporting of student progress.
  • Support teachers in creating effective formative and summative assessments.

Student Well-being & Support

  • Promote student well-being by integrating the Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills into everyday activities.
  • Collaborate with Pastoral and Learning Support teams to provide additional help for students in need.
  • Monitor students’ academic progress regularly and implement strategies for improvement when required.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as the main point of contact for the MYP program within the school and with the IB organization.
  • Facilitate communication among students, teachers, parents, and school leadership about the MYP curriculum and assessments.
  • Build strong relationships with the school community, external partners, feeder schools, and the broader IB network.

Program Review & Evaluation

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the MYP program using feedback from students, teachers, and parents.
  • Use data and feedback to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement action plans based on internal evaluations and external feedback.

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans for the MYP program in line with the school’s vision and mission.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to define educational goals and ensure they are reflected in the MYP framework.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence and high expectations within the MYP cohort.

Extracurricular and Community Engagement

  • Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities that align with the MYP’s focus on holistic education, including service learning and global citizenship.
  • Support the development of outreach programs focused on community service, cultural awareness, and global initiatives.

Ongoing Program Improvement

  • Stay updated on changes to the IB MYP framework, educational best practices, and trends in international education.
  • Promote innovation and reflective practice within the teaching community to keep the MYP relevant and engaging for students.
