You’ll help us fulfill the school’s mission statement by contributing to the delivery of a high-quality Individuals & Societies program.

 

Engagement and Interaction – School Ambassador to Internal Community

  • Promote the school values in all interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Actively participate in community and culture-building events as part of an international community.
  • Contribute to enrichment opportunities aimed at engaging students beyond the classroom.
  • Promote effective communication channels with parents to ensure a strong home-school relationship that supports student development.
  • Always maintain a high standard of integrity and professionalism when engaging with colleagues.

 

Learning and Teaching

  • Create authentic and inspiring learning experiences to engage students as passionate and curious learners.
  • Use technology effectively and innovatively to support quality learning experiences for students.
  • Continuously strive for high standards in all interactions with students, aiming for quality outcomes for all learners.
  • Employ a range of strategies to engage learners and ensure a personalized approach to learning for everyone.
  • Balance lessons effectively to ensure optimal input from both teachers and students as drivers of the learning experience.
  • Design lessons that encourage exploration, innovation, and creativity in dealing with content and skill development.
  • Sequence learning experiences to build on prior learning and encourage personal exploration beyond the curriculum.

 

Planning and Preparation

  • Align curriculum planning vertically to support student growth and the development of skills and knowledge over time.
  • Encourage students to take a lead role in their learning and actively shape their learning journey.
  • Deliberately plan lessons to support a range of learning needs, fostering peer collaboration and reflection.
  • Use formative and summative assessment methods effectively to inform teaching and learning practices.
  • Employ tracking and monitoring systems to support and challenge learners, ensuring targeted progress relevant to their ability.

Personal Specifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status with a minimum of two years teaching experience.
  • Qualified to University Degree level or above in a humanities subject area.
  • Experience teaching 12–16-year-olds in humanities skills-based subjects.
  • Experience delivering extracurricular activities and participating in external events to support student enrichment.
  • Preferable but not essential: completion of IB Cat1/2 training for MYP Individuals & Societies.
  • Preferable but not essential: experience teaching other humanities subjects at the post-16 level, such as IBDP History, Global Politics, Geography, Economics, or Business Management.
  • Strong track record of continued professional development, demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality pastoral care supporting the growth and development of young people.
  • Evidence of active collaboration with colleagues to cross subject boundaries and develop transferable skills in students.
  • Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage students.
  • Strong proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning and engage learners.
  • Exceptional cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills to interact with a diverse community and a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a passion for demonstrating and quantifying success.
  • Strong record of being results-oriented, with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs to demonstrate impact as a quality educator.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in handling multi-functional tasks.
