ACCOUNTING MANAGER

 

 

 

JOB PURPOSE      

 

The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient workflow. This role manages a team of accounting professionals and collaborates closely with leadership to support strategic financial decisions.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES           

 

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS and internal accounting policies.
  • Coordinate year-end audits and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.

General Ledger Management

  • Oversee the general ledger and ensure proper recording of all financial transactions.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Support development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Provide variance analysis and financial insights for decision-making.
  • Partner with department leaders to monitor spending and financial performance.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff.
  • Assign tasks and manage workflow to meet deadlines.
  • Provide training to ensure adherence to accounting standards and best practices.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement automation tools.
  • Develop and update accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Enhance internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.

Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Oversight

  • Oversee processing of invoices, payments, billing, and collections.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of AP/AR and resolve discrepancies.  

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field   

 

Experience / Knowledge

  • Experience with financial reporting, general ledger management, and audit support.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including supervisory or management experience.

 

Skills

  • Financial Reporting: Expertise in preparing and reviewing financial statements. 
  • GAAP/IFRS Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting standards and regulatory requirements.          
  • General Ledger Management: Skilled in managing GL activity, reconciliations, and closing processes.   
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Ability to develop budgets, perform variance analysis, and provide financial insights.   
  • Internal Controls: Knowledge of control frameworks and ability to design, implement, and monitor controls.     
  • Audit Support: Experience working with external auditors and preparing audit documentation.
  • Tax Basics: Understanding of sales tax, payroll tax, and corporate tax fundamentals.  
  • Software Proficiency: Skilled in accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel.
