JOB PURPOSE

The Primary English Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for leading and supporting the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all curriculum delivered in English across Primary. 

The role ensures coherence, consistency, and high-quality teaching and learning across classrooms, while working in close and continuous alignment with the  Primary Spanish  Coordinator. A key component of the role is providing ongoing instructional coaching and support to teachers, ensuring strong classroom practice and positive student outcomes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Pedagogical and Educational Leadership


•    Lead the design, planning, and continuous refinement of the English curriculum across all Primary grade levels. 
•    Ensure alignment and coherence across English Language development and content subjects taught in English. 
•    Support consistent implementation of curriculum frameworks, units of work, and assessment practices. 
•    Monitor curriculum delivery to ensure quality and consistency across classrooms and grade levels.
•    Collaborate with other curriculum leaders to ensure cross-curricular integration and coherence. 
•    Support vertical alignment and progression between grade levels. 
•    Contribute to schoolwide academic planning and improvement initiatives.

Instructional Leadership & Teacher Support


•    Provide ongoing coaching to teachers delivering instruction in English. 
•    Support teachers in planning, differentiation, and scaffolding for English language learners. 
•    Model effective instructional strategies for teaching in an English-medium environment. 
•    Conduct classroom observations and provide structured, actionable feedback. 
•    Participate in recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of teachers.
•    Assist in Admissions when required 
•    Teach, or take cover periods, when required
•    Identify professional development needs and support capacity building across the team.

Assessment & Student Learning


•    Monitor student learning data (language and content) to inform teaching and interventions. 
•    Ensure appropriate support for students learning in a second language environment. 
•    Support the development and implementation of assessment strategies across English-medium subjects. 
•    Collaborate with Learning Support to design targeted interventions when needed.
•    Ensure accommodations and curricular adaptations are implemented as required.
•    Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
•    Support extracurricular and leadership programs.
Organization Leadership
•    Ensure consistent implementation of standards for teaching and learning in English across the Primary School.
•    Oversee attendance, staff coverage, reporting systems, and academic calendars. 
•    Identify strengths and areas for improvement within the English-medium program.
•    Support documentation, organization, and development of curriculum resources.
•    Contribute to internal reviews, accreditation processes, or school evaluations when required.
•    Monitor and revise report cards process.
•    Support budget preparation for Primary in collaboration with the Head of Early Years and Primary. 


Community Relations


•    Work closely with, and report to, the Head of Early Years and Primary
•    Maintain open, professional communication with families. 
•    Address parent concerns and support conflict resolution. 
•    Promote a positive culture of collaboration among staff, students, and families.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/Training 


•    Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
•    C1 – C2 English Level (Bilingual in Spanish preferred) 
•    Experience in curriculum coordination or instructional leadership
•    Minimum of five (5) years of successful, full-time, classroom teaching experience
•    Previous International-UK school experience preferred
•    Capacity for planning, decision-making, and organizational management.
•    Experience in institutional and administrative management.
•    Proficiency in computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
