Position Summary 

The STEAM Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, inquiry-based instruction across Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, fostering innovation, creativity, and critical thinking in students. Teachers create inclusive, dynamic, and student-centered learning environments that develop 21st-century skills aligned with the Empower Us Framework and SGS Teaching for Excellence Program.

Key Responsibilities 

Academics: 

1.    Participate in the development, implementation, and revision of new curriculum. 

2.    Prepare weekly or unit lesson plans collaboratively with departmental peers and submit them according to the established schedule. 

3.    Create interdisciplinary connections through communication and collaboration with other subject teachers. 

4.    Keep accurate records of student progress, maintaining current gradebooks including homework, tardies, exams, and project grades. 

5.    Update student records in the school's gradebook software and submit final grades by the assigned deadlines. 

6.    Collaborate with administration and faculty to uphold standards of student conduct in and out of the classroom. 

7.    Adhere consistently to all school and departmental policies and procedures. 

8.    Set and maintain high academic standards. 

9.    Follow the All-School Essential Agreements for teaching and learning. 

 

STEAM-Specific Responsibilities:  

 

12. Teach foundational computer basics and coding.  

13. Instruct in algorithms, AI concepts, and app development.  

14. Guide students in game design and programming.  

15. Teach 3D printing processes and applications. 

16. Develop robotics and electronic projects using LEGO WeDo, wearable technologies, and other programmable microcontroller kits, fostering computational thinking and interdisciplinary learning through hands-on exploration 

 

Instructional Excellence: 

•    Use inquiry-based learning to foster critical thinking, creativity, and innovation. 

•    Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs, including ELLs and students with accommodations. 

•    Integrate technology to enhance learning experiences. 

•    Provide standards-based assessment and feedback to students. 

•    Engage students in self-reflection and goal setting.

Qualifications & Experience 

•    Bachelor's degree in Education or relevant subject area. 

•    Master's degree in Education (preferred). 

•    Minimum of three years of experience in teaching and supervision. 

•    Experience with the Workshop Model and inquiry-based learning. 

•    Familiarity with Cambridge and IB curricula (preferred). 

•    Classes are conducted 100% in English; high proficiency required. 

Reporting Structure 

•    Reports to: Primary School Principal / Upper School Principal (as applicable) 

•    Collaborates with: Curriculum Coordinator, Instructional Coaches, Well-being Team
