Why Work at Avenues?
Welcome to Avenues São Paulo! Since our doors opened in August 2018, we've been on a mission to provide a truly transformative educational experience. Through immersive English language learning and dynamic interdisciplinary projects, we prepare our students to become future worldwise leaders uniquely equipped to understand and solve global-scale problems. As part of the Nord Anglia Education network, we're proud to stand alongside Avenues New York, shaping the future of education together. With a vibrant community of over 1100 students, ranging from as young as 18 months old through to graduation, our campus buzzes with a culture of innovation, creativity, collaboration, and state-of-the-art technology. Join us as we embark on a journey of lifelong learning and growth and discover why there's no place quite like Avenues São Paulo.
What You'll Do
Humanities teachers guide students to become informed, skilled, and empathic agents of change. We introduce students to key civilizations, movements, and forces that have shaped our past, and we help them explore the great issues and challenges facing our local and global communities today. Through a range of approaches--including historical thinking skills, design thinking, and project-based experiences--we equip students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to make a difference in the world.
As part of our diverse and student-oriented upper-grades team, you will teach Upper Grades Humanities electives in which students explore processes, philosophical areas of study, and societal changes at a deeper level. Major thinkers in the Humanities, along with Brazil's geopolitical challenges, are two areas for in-depth inquiry.
More broadly, all teachers at Avenues:
- ensure students achieve key learning outcomes by targeting instruction to address individual student needs
- collaboratively plan discipline-based and interdisciplinary units and projects using backwards design frameworks, such as Understanding by Design
- co-construct with students a classroom environment that establishes high standards, fosters a sense of belonging, and upholds our founding values of welcome, safety, and respect
- practice cultural competence in the classroom and workplace
- inspire trust and confidence among guardians and families through regular, proactive communication
- contribute to the broader community of our São Paulo campus, the Avenues ecosystem and the Nord Anglia's Global Family of schools.
