Upper Grades English Teacher

What You'll Do

An Upper grades (UG) English teacher designs and facilitates senior-level English courses, in which students read, write, discuss, and grapple with complex ideas of the humanities. Additionally, the teacher will offer UG electives based on student interest, ranging from literature to drama to rhetoric and composition. You'll also contribute to our community by leading a student-interest based or academic enrichment, providing office hours to support students, leading a student grade-level community circle, participating in (and leading, when it makes sense) professional learning meetings, and joining design teams to seize grade-level or division-wide opportunities.

You will also:

• Engage students in reading complex texts and composing sophisticated writing of their own, in English
• Build a learning atmosphere that leads students to feel part of a rigorous but joyful learning community
• Collaborate intensively with colleagues to continually deepen student learning
• Inspire trust and confidence among parents and families
