The Role:
To deliver exceptional teaching and learning across KS2, KS3, IGCSE, and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). As the Art specialist, you will be the driving force behind the curriculum, responsible for inspiring creativity and fostering technical skill across the school. You will be a core member of our collaborative Visual Arts team (encompassing Music, Drama, and Film), contributing to a vibrant and interdisciplinary arts culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering Excellence in Art & Design Education:
- To plan and deliver high-quality, engaging, and differentiated lessons in Art and Design across KS2, KS3, IGCSE, and IBDP, catering to a wide range of abilities and interests.
- To effectively utilise formative and summative assessment data to track student progress, measure impact, and inform personalised teaching strategies to ensure outstanding student outcomes.
Fostering Creativity and Artistic Development
- To create a dynamic and inspiring learning environment that encourages risk-taking, creative exploration, and the development of technical skills in a variety of media and processes.
- To nurture each student's unique artistic voice and conceptual thinking, guiding them to produce high-quality, personal portfolios for IGCSE and IBDP.
Collaboration and Whole-School Contribution
- To be an active and collaborative member of the Visual Arts team, working closely with colleagues in Music, Drama, and Film to stage productions, exhibitions, and cross-disciplinary projects.
- To contribute to the school's vibrant cultural life by curating dynamic displays of student work and leading co-curricular art clubs.
Community, Wellbeing, and Global Engagement
- To support the school’s wellbeing ethos by fostering an inclusive, safe, and supportive classroom environment where every student feels valued and confident to express themselves.
- To act as a positive ambassador for the Arts within the school community and beyond.
- To engage with opportunities within the Nord Anglia Education family, including potential collaborations with The Juilliard School and MIT, to enrich the art curriculum and provide global perspectives for our students.
Person Specification:
Essential
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, BEd, or equivalent).
- A strong academic background in Art, Fine Art, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience of teaching Art effectively, ideally across multiple key stages, including IGCSE and/or IBDP.
- A passion for fostering creativity and a demonstrable commitment to supporting the holistic development of every child.
The Successful Candidate will possess:
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, HDipEd, or equivalent).
- Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure for all countries lived in.
- Compliance with visa requirements for working in China.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, and a willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training when required.
- A proven track record of success with at least two years’ English teaching experience.
- Experience of teaching IGCSE and IBDP English is highly preferable
