About the Department and Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics to join our dynamic and supportive department. The successful candidate will also take on the role of Form Tutor, contributing to our strong pastoral care system. In addition to teaching Mathematics, the role will include some Science teaching; therefore, experience teaching any of the Sciences—particularly up to the level of the IB Diploma Programme—would be a significant advantage.

In Mathematics, we follow the White Rose curriculum for Key Stage 3, followed by Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics for all students and CIE Further Pure Mathematics for our top mathematicians. Students then go on to the IBDP and study either AA or AI.

In summer 2024, our year 11 students achieved a 93% pass rate for IGCSE Mathematics, with 57% of students attaining grade 7- 9. All IBDP AA students achieved a grade 4 or above, with 18% of our HL and 31% of our SL students achieving a 7. For IBDP AI, 77% of our students achieved a grade 4 or higher.

The mathematics department is committed to continuous improvement, sharing best practice, developing the concept of enquiry-based learning, and promoting mathematical thinking into the curriculum and departmental pedagogy. This year, the department is working on events that involve maths outside the curriculum, such as a Pi day, museum trips and maths competitions, and cross-curricular activities to exemplify to students the practical applications of maths.

The successful candidate will be able to teach classes from KS3 to IBDP level. Previous experience in teaching IBDP for either the AA or AI course is advantageous.
