German First Language Teacher (KS2-KS5) (Maternity Cover)

St Andrews International School Bangkok is one of 88 schools in the Nord Anglia Education (NAE) family. German First Language Teacher (KS2-KS5) (Maternity Cover)

Period: Starting Jan-Feb 2027, Ending May-June 2027

ABOUT THE ROLE

At St Andrews, we are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic German First Language Teacher to join our Languages team on a maternity cover contract.

The successful candidate will primarily teach German First Language to students aged approximately 8–14, from Year 3 to Year 9, supporting native and fluent German-speaking students in developing their language, literacy and cultural awareness skills.

The role will also include teaching IB German Literature to students in Years 12 and 13, so previous experience teaching German Literature at IB Diploma level, or a comparable senior secondary qualification, is highly desirable.

Class sizes are small, allowing teachers to respond effectively to individual learning needs and provide a stimulating and academically challenging learning environment. Students are motivated and engaged, and we are looking for a teacher who can bring genuine enthusiasm for German Language and Literature to the classroom

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong subject knowledge in German Language and Literature.

• Experience teaching German as a First Language to native or highly proficient students.

• Experience teaching students across Year 3 to Year 9 or comparable age groups.

• The ability to teach IB German Literature in Years 12 and 13.

• An understanding of how to differentiate learning across a wide range of ages and abilities.

• A flexible and collaborative approach to working within an international school Languages team.

• Experience teaching within an international school environment or an English National Curriculum setting would be an advantage.

• Experience supporting students with a range of additional learning needs would be beneficial.

Our classrooms have access to interactive technology and digital learning resources, and there is a strong commitment to integrating ICT meaningfully into teaching and learning.

As well as their teaching responsibilities, all teachers are expected to contribute positively to the school’s pastoral systems and wider school community. This includes supporting school activities and offering an Extra-Curricular Activity that either extends students’ learning within their subject area or reflects another area of personal interest.

CONTRACT PERIOD

This position is a maternity cover appointment for approximately four months, commencing in January or February 2027 and continuing until May 2027.

The exact start date will be confirmed with the successful candidate.
