Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a specialist teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to supporting students with complex learning needs. This is an opportunity to join our well-established STARs programme and work within a collaborative, experienced team.

At St Andrews, we believe that knowing each child is at the heart of effective education. You will lead one STARs class, creating a structured and supportive environment where students feel safe, understood and able to make meaningful progress.

You will design, implement and review Individual Learning and Health Plans, adapting teaching to meet a wide range of needs including ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Down Syndrome, and other developmental or physical needs. Working closely with the STARs Co-ordinator and multidisciplinary team, you will ensure a consistent approach to each child’s development.

Inspiring Learning and Development:
You will be responsible for planning, teaching and assessment within your class, using differentiated and evidence-informed approaches. You will monitor progress, maintain clear records, and provide regular feedback to parents and colleagues.

Leading and Collaborating as a Team:
You will lead and support LSAs, coordinate your classroom team, and ensure consistency in practice. You will work closely with parents, teachers and external specialists, leading review meetings and supporting communication in more complex situations.

Contributing to an Inclusive School Community:
You will contribute to the STARs curriculum and support inclusive practices across the school, working with subject teams and Year Leaders to ensure meaningful access to learning.
