Higher Level Teaching Assistant (EAL)

A Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) is a vital part of the EAL team at St Andrews, supporting students to fully access the curriculum and thrive in their learning.

What You’ll Do:

Support students’ learning in class and small group sessions.
Deliver EAL 1 programmes and interventions under supervision of the EAL Coordinator.
Build positive relationships to support behaviour, independence, and self-esteem.
Collaborate with teachers through co-planning and co-teaching.
Monitor and record progress, assist with reports and parent meetings.
Support duties, trips, and extracurricular activities.
Contribute to education and behaviour plans when required.
Provide guidance to other EAL LSAs if needed.

Who We’re Looking For:

Experience across KS1 and KS2; Early Years experience is an advantage.
Higher level teaching qualifications and proven EAL expertise.
Flexible, adaptable, and proactive approach.
Strong communication and confidentiality skills.
English level CEFR C1+ (IELTS 7.5+).
SEN experience (ADHD, autism, dyslexia, etc.) valued.
