Higher Level Teaching Assistant (EAL)

A Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) is a vital part of the EAL team at St Andrews, supporting students to fully access the curriculum and thrive in their learning.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support students’ learning in class and small group sessions.

  • Deliver EAL 1 programmes and interventions under supervision of the EAL Coordinator.

  • Build positive relationships to support behaviour, independence, and self-esteem.

  • Collaborate with teachers through co-planning and co-teaching.

  • Monitor and record progress, assist with reports and parent meetings.

  • Support duties, trips, and extracurricular activities.

  • Contribute to education and behaviour plans when required.

  • Provide guidance to other EAL LSAs if needed.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience across KS1 and KS2; Early Years experience is an advantage.

  • Higher level teaching qualifications and proven EAL expertise.

  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive approach.

  • Strong communication and confidentiality skills.

  • English level CEFR C1+ (IELTS 7.5+).

  • SEN experience (ADHD, autism, dyslexia, etc.) valued.
