ABOUT THE ROLE
Job Purpose:
The PE HLTA will primarily support individual students, the PE teacher, and/or the class in the teaching of Physical Education. This role will also include leading small groups of children and whole classes, contributing to the planning and preparation of learning activities, and advancing learning when working with individuals, small groups, and whole classes without the presence of the assigned teacher. The HLTA will ensure effective personalised provision by taking practical account of diversity and promote positive behavior.
Roles and Responsibility:
A. Teaching and Learning Support

Support the main class teacher in the delivery of PE lessons.

Lead PE lessons when needed.

Work with individuals or small groups of students to advance their learning.

Advance learning when working with whole classes without the presence of the assigned teacher.

Use effective strategies to promote positive behavior during PE activities.

Clarify or explain content and instructions, either through visual support, written, or orally.

Ensure that students are able to use equipment correctly in a way that supports their learning.

Encourage students to develop independence and responsibility for their own learning where appropriate.

Adapt tasks and help prepare materials and resources suitable for children and young people's interests and abilities.

Differentiate language or reinforce an activity.

Support learners in accessing the curriculum in accordance with the special educational needs (SEN) code of practice and disabilities legislation.

Follow strategies from Individual Learning and Health Plans for students to meet individualised goals.

Provide support in planning, preparing, and devise clearly structured and motivating learning activities, selecting suitable resources and ensuring the inclusion of all children and young people

Monitoring and Assessment monitor learners' responses and progress, adjusting their approach and providing focused support and feedback, while also contributing to the evaluation and analysis of assessment records..
