St Andrews International School Bangkok is one of 88 schools in the Nord Anglia Education (NAE) family. We offer a British educational curriculum with an international perspective that begins in Nursery and leads up to IGCSE examinations in Year 11, and culminates with the International Baccalaureate Diploma after completing Year 13. The following outlines expectations for the School Librarian. Please note your contract may include additional responsibilities.
The School Librarian should be:
- A partner with teaching staff in the education process
- A supporter of individual student needs
- An expert in information resource provision and management
- A collaborator in developing and implementing reading programmes
- A leader in promoting reading for pleasure across the school
- A key resource partner across all departments and key stages
Job Purpose: To manage, develop, promote, and evaluate an effective learning resource and information service that supports teaching and learning school-wide.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Planning and Development
- Manage the Library for use by classes, groups, and individuals
- Develop a Library policy aligned with the school's goals
- Oversee the Library budget, prepare bids and estimates
- Collaborate with teaching and support staff
- Select, acquire, organise, and promote resources to support learning
- Ensure equal access to quality resources for all
- Train and manage library staff, including appraisals and induction
- Monitor and evaluate the Library's impact on teaching and learning
- Supervise students in the Library, ensuring a welcoming learning space
- Support for Staff and Students
- Assist staff and students in choosing appropriate resources
- Plan and co-deliver a library skills programme with teachers
- Promote reading and the enjoyment of literature in all forms
- Publicise Library services to the school community
- Maintain professional development and knowledge of current trends
- Network with other school libraries and related organisations
- Support staff in creating classroom learning materials
- Professional Expectations
- Join relevant staff meetings to raise Library-related topics
- Be line-managed by a member of the School Management Team
- Manage the Library in line with school policies (e.g. Health & Safety, Inclusion)
- Oversee the Library budget per school guidelines and best-value principle

Our school has a good reputation of supporting children with special educational needs and experience of teaching children with ADHD, autism, dyslexia etc. would be very good prior experience for a teacher wishing to join our team.
